I have tried this while reclining on the couch and it holds the ipad nicely and comfortably rather than it sliding around on a lap. The pillow is also nice enough to just leave on the couch like a throw pillow when not in use. The front pocket that the ipad sits in is a little too deep - so you have to lift it a little to touch the bottom of the screen. Not a big deal but a bit of a design flaw.
